Crime Victim Assistance Program

The Crime Victim Assistance Program may be one of British Columbia’s most underrated support resources. Hundreds of families rely on this program each year to support them through times of grief and stress.

What is the Crime Victim Assistance Program?

The Crime Victim Assistance Program was designed by the B.C. government to support crime victims. It provides access to discounted medical services and additional financial benefits. The program has been a great success and plays an essential role in supporting victims through the recovery process. Some of the benefits of joining the CVAP include:

  • Access to free counseling
  • Discounts on medical services
  • Income support
  • Transportation assistance
  • Childcare assistance

In addition to these benefits, the CVAP provides residents with protection and peace of mind. Participants have found these aspects to be critical for their recovery process.

Applying for the Crime Victim Assistance Program
Anyone who has witnessed or been affected by a violent crime can apply for the CVAP. The application can be filled out at home using a computer. Applications for the CVAP are submitted electronically. Applications must be sent in within a year of the date the crime was committed. There may be some exceptions for special cases.

The website listed below has all of the information you need to fill out your application.
