The City of Surrey will be celebrating Substance Use Awareness Week week of May 26. As a partner in the project I am passionate about increasing the awareness of Substance and Process misuse in Surrey. The term addiction is used across many issues. At one time it was used to describe a drug or alcohol addiction. Increasingly, it is used to when excessive time is spent playing video games or other gaming. Addiction does not discriminate, it transcends across cultures, genders and age. It is time for everyone to take notice and observe the week of May 26 to start and continue dialogue of preventing addictions in our community.
The City will distribute comprehensive fact sheets with themes of body image, process addictions and parenting tips via the city website. Kuldip Counselling provides support for those struggling with addiction.
